Trail of devastation surrounding Norsk Hydro aluminium refinery

March 6, 2023

After following our case against Norsk Hydro for several months, Bloomberg journalist Sheridan Prasso has produced a feature-length article and podcast episode exposing the incomprehensible trail of devastation surrounding their aluminium refinery in the state of Para, Brazil.

On behalf of 11,000 residents of the nearby neighbourhoods, our case seeks to prove that the Norwegian aluminium and renewable energy company is to blame for the local people’s potentially life-ending health problems and extensive environmental damage.

Maria Do Socorro, a client in the case whose grandson’s organs broke through his skin at birth and who has seen eight family members struck down with cancer, said: “Every single day we die a little bit. We are victims of this company, Hydro. They come and make money and leave nothing for us.”
