Laura Arboleda Gutiérrez is a lawyer admitted to practice in Colombia. She specialises in public interest and strategic litigation, as well as investment and commercial international arbitration. Laura advises NGOs, States, State-entities, and investors. She also has experience advising States on their dispute prevention and justice delivery policies. This includes, for example, designing dispute resolution mechanisms for the Government of Colombia and the Asian Development Bank.
Laura handles cases in a variety of jurisdictions and under different procedural rules, including the ICC, ICSID, and UNCITRAL arbitration rules, with a particular focus on the Latin American region. She has expertise representing States in matters relating to the telecommunications, construction, oil, gas, and energy industries, as well as NGOs in environmental and human rights-related cases before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Additionally, Laura has participated in several arbitration proceedings administered by the Bogotá and Lima Chambers of Commerce.
In addition to her work in litigation and arbitration, Laura founded and led an NGO dedicated to defending the rule of law, individual liberties and rights in Colombia through the dissemination of ideas and strategic litigation.
